We view Nursery education as an extension of the home where children are encouraged through stimulating key experiences to develop physically, socially, emotionally, intellectually and aesthetically. We provide facilities and activities geared to promote active learning and the staff work closely to ensure that your child is progressing.
Nursery Pupils and their Parents
There are 85 part time places – 40 places for age 3-5 years and 5 places for age 2 years in the morning session and 40 places for age 3-5 years in the afternoon. We have 8 full time places, which are allocated on a referral basis by Perth and Kinross Council.
Nursery sessions are
AM: Monday to Friday 08:45 -11:57
PM: Monday to Friday 11:57-3:09
Enrolment should take place in January. Notices regarding this are placed in newspapers by the Education Authority, and the school advises parents through newsletters and notices in local shops and associated Primary Schools.
All application forms are carefully considered and places are allocated according to the criteria set by Perth and Kinross Council (copy of Guidelines available).
Nursery education is non-statutory but continuity for the child is very important. If your child is going to be absent for a period due to illness or holiday arrangements, please keep us informed. A telephone call would be helpful for short absences.
It is essential that your child is accompanied by a responsible adult to and from each session. Please supervise your child on arrival and bring him/her into the Nursery. You are most welcome to stay and share in your child’s activities at any time.
If at some time, another adult, unknown to the Nursery staff, is going to collect your child, please ensure that we are aware of this.
Outdoor Play and Outings
We have a beautiful garden area where the children will be able to experience outdoor activities - planting bulbs and seeds, feeding and watching birds, observing the changing seasons and using our large outdoor equipment.
In order to make the children more aware of their local environment we take them on shopping trips and visit the interesting places in and around Auchterarder. We request that you sign a parental consent form to cover such trips and visits. Once signed, this covers all the local trips that we would propose to undertake throughout the session.
Although there is no charge for Nursery Education, £2 per child is collected each Monday towards the cost of baking activities, snacks and extra equipment. The children are actively involved in the buying and preparation of their daily snack.
