Policy on PE kit & participation

Pupils will be encouraged to wear the following kit for PE at all ages:

School kit is available through https://www.sprinterz.co.uk/spr/index.php/uniform-shop

As you are searching through the variety of products available online, please make sure it meets the standards of kit outlined below. We aim to set a high standard of kit for our pupils and feel there is enough flexibility within the ranges available to provide a choice as to how these standards are met.

Indoors:

  • Plain T-shirt (white or royal blue). Or Polo shirt (white or royal blue).
  • Plain black/ shorts / track suit bottoms / leggings/ ¾ lengths
  • Clean indoor trainers

Outdoors - As above, plus the following is also recommended for inclement weather:

  • Plain black/ light grey sports jumper or Plain Hoodie
  • Waterproof sports jacket
  • Outdoor trainers/ football boots
  • Towel to dry off in case of rain
  • Bag to put dirty kit in to
  • It is recommended that pupils are prepared with indoor kit should the weather be too bad to go outside and an indoor area has to be used.

If you are not taking part in PE through illness/ injury?

Please bring a note in at the start of the lesson to let your teacher know if you are not taking part in PE. Emails & phone calls do not always filter through to us on time and staff will be understanding of illness and injuries.

We have worked very hard to create a culture where the pupils at this school value PE. All our classes have more or less 100% of pupils taking part and we do not like to have pupils sitting at the side. Even when pupils are injured or not feeling well, we encourage them to still get changed and try to be involved in the learning of the lesson as long as it is safe to do so.

Forgotten kit

If pupils forget kit they should report to their PE teacher as soon as they enter the PE department. Pupils who forget kit will be expected to borrow clean kit from the PE department and take part.

If you forget kit, this will be viewed as failing to turn up to class with appropriate materials. If you forget 3 times, you will come back at lunchtime for an opportunity to discuss organisational challenges you might be facing and potential solutions. Communication will then take place with home.

Inappropriate kit

Pupils who turn up for their PE lesson wearing inappropriate kit (anything not listed above) will be verbally warned and given kit where necessary. If this happens 3 times, a letter will be sent home by the school to notify the parent/ guardian of the issue.

Jewellery / Hair / Chewing gum

On grounds on health and safety, no jewellery should be worn during PE. Long hair should be tied back and chewing gum placed in the bin at the start of the lesson.

School uniform (jackets/ jumpers/ trousers/ shirts) should not be worn during PE for hygiene reasons.
